The Firefox cache temporarily stores images, scripts, and other parts of websites while you are browsing. This article describes how to clear the Firefox cache.

Clear the cache
3.5/3.6:
- At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click Tools, then select Clear Recent History…. The Clear Recent History window will open.
- Next to Time range to clear, select Everything.
- Click the button next to Details to expand the window.
- In the Details list, select Cache and make sure the other items are not selected.
- Click Clear Now. The cache will be cleared and the Clear Recent History window will close.

- Select the Advanced panel.
- Click on the Network tab.
- In the Offline Storage section, click Clear Now.

Automatically clear the cache
You can set Firefox to automatically clear the cache when Firefox closes:

- At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click on the ToolsFirefoxEdit menu, and select Options...Preferences....
- Select the Privacy panel.
- In the History section, set Firefox will: to Use custom settings for history.
- Select the check box for Clear history when Firefox closes.
- Beside Clear history when Firefox closes, click the Settings... button. The Settings for Clearing History window will open.
- In the Settings for Clearing History window, click the check mark box next to Cache.
- Click OK to close the Settings for Clearing History window.
- Click OK to close the Options windowClick Close to close the Preferences windowClose the Preferences window
